Conclusion
History
Saguenay was named after the Saguenay River which is known for flowing out into the Saint Lawrence River. Saguenay's history consisted of four time periods. The fur trade went on from 1535 to 1852, colonization and commercialization of wood from 1842 to 1890, industrialization and urbanization from 1890 to 1930, and specialization and economic diversification from 1930 to present day. Over time, Saguenay has become advanced with technology and more urbanized. Some key connections that Saguenay has between other cities and countries is sharing their bodies of water with visitors and their excellent trading system. In 1670, the Hudson's Bay Company was originally a fur trading company, which is now a retail company within Canada and the United Kingdom. |
Evaluation
Saguenay is an urban city in Quebec with it's own river. There are some reasons I would and would not want to live there. To start off, there is cold weather. On the brighter side, Saguenay is the host of many festivals and also offers seasonal activities. Saguenay has cold weather in the summer due to the city being surrounded by several bodies of water. Personally, I would not enjoy constantly being in cold and rainy weather almost everyday. The city offers many celebrations and cultural activities that I would like to participate in, that might not be found in Toronto. It would allow me to be more involved with my community so that I enjoy my time living in the city. Saguenay also holds events specifically for certain seasons which will give me something to look forward to every season without getting bored. There is good and bad to living in Saguenay, just like there is in every city. I would definitely consider living there for a year or so. |
